WHERE USED/FITTED

Portable equipment. Type 30 is the name used in the Royal Navy for the Army's Portable Set 'C' MkI. It is transported on two pneumatic tyred carts which carry respectively:-
(1) Transmitter, receiver, aerial gear, masts, telephones, valves etc all in a box, plus aerial reels and spares etc in another box.
(2) Engine driven generator, engine, switchboard, three 2 volts cells (in a box), oil and petrol.

The cart wheel and axles are removable and the carts provide two benches for setting up the stations.
Two tents are supplied to protect the equipment and power unit (not necessarily the men)!
The aerial is very large.

The transmitter emits CW on 150 to 426 kc/s and has a range of 40 miles.
The receiver is cable of reception of CW or ICW transmissions and consists of a Tuner, an Amplifier and a Herterodyne.
Type 30 fitted in many Fleet units.
